Supplykoh’s solution for Rishabh RMI Steel’s corrosion problem: A joint venture with ASSAB

Perceiving the case

One of the biggest challenges faced by steel manufacturers is corrosion. As it reduces its strength and durability. This leads to an increase in maintenance costs as corroded steel need to be repaired or replaced more frequently than non-corroded ones. The widely used solution for it is conventional/macro coating. However macro coating is not sufficient for large scale manufacturers.

Rishabh RMI Steel experienced a significant rise in maintenance expenses due to the frequent repair and replacement of corroded equipment and machinery. This hindered their ability to allocate more resources towards research and development. Additionally, reduced lifespan of their products led to customer dissatisfaction.

The company was worried about losing their market position and their customers’ confidence due to rising costs and declining product quality. They had to reconsider their approach to effectively address the issue.

Supplykoh identified the issue and proactively offered assistance in determining the underlying source and collaborating to devise viable solutions.

Uncovering the primary problem

A fresh Sub-Operations team was appointed to handle Rishabh Steel’s challenges.

The R&D part of the team analysed Rishabh RMI Steel’s products and market, and found that the new nano-coating technology is superior to conventional coating for enhancing steel strength and preventing corrosion.

Nanocoating offer superior performance and functionalities due to their unique properties at the nanoscale. They provide enhanced hardness, scratch resistance, UV protection, and anti-corrosion properties while requiring thinner coating layers. They reduce maintenance needs and have reduced environmental impact, making them a cutting-edge and sustainable choice for surface protection and enhancement over conventional coatings.

Supplykoh facilitates Rishabh RMI Steel's joint venture with ASSAB

Our business team identified ASSAB, a Singapore-based company specializing in nano-coating technology. However, Rishabh RMI Steel found it challenging to import with an overseas company due to small custom batches. That’s where we stepped in and assisted them in establishing a joint venture with ASSAB in India. Our legal team efficiently managed the acquisition of all requisite governmental authorizations and permits, thereby facilitating a seamless and effortless experience for our client.

By helping them setting up a unit in India and after a year, Rishabh RMI Steel could easily access the technology they needed from ASSAB. As a result, their maintenance costs declined due to the increased durability of their products. This helped ASSAB as well to establish a market for themselves in India.

By addressing the supply challenges faced by Rishabh RMI Steel, the company is now well-equipped for future developments, and retailers are more inclined to collaborate with them. It has enabled them to provide more offerings in the market.
